Thermacast Electric Vaporizers, Trim Heaters and Thermax Combo Vaporizers
Thermacast Vaporizers provide an economic and compact solution to vaporization. The cryogen flows though a stainless steel tube coil that has been cast into an aluminum block. Holes are precision drilled in the block and cartridge heaters are inserted. The cryogen is vaporized and superheated to a controlled set point. Full power distribution and temperature control is provided as part of the standard package. Standard units are available from 0.5 Kw to 250 Kw.
Steam Vaporizers
Condensing steam provides a large amount of heat in a small area and in many plants is readily available. For direct steam vaporizers and trim heaters the combination of high heat content and large temperature differences lends to smaller sized and more cost effective units. Steam is also used as a heat source in the reliable steam sparged water bath vaporizer.
Model Types
Direct Steam Vaporizers
Thermax Steam Sparged Water Bath
Cold (Hot) Water Cryogenic Vaporizers
Thermax Cold Water Vaporizers use an existing water source for vaporization.
Water flows on the shell side of a shell and U-tube heat exchanger.
The cryogen is vaporized and superheated through a stainless steel tube bundle that is fit with proprietary vortex generators.
Both the shell and tube bundle can be fabricated of exotic materials to handle the most problematic cryogens.
Standard units are available for up to 10 MSCFH.
Cryo-Coil Vaporizers & Coolers
Thermax Cryo-Coils offer a compact solution to vaporization. Stainless steel Vortex Flow Vaporizer coils are fit into a shell to provide counter current flow with a fluid (water) stream. The counter current flow increases heat transfer and reduces the required amount of surface area.
These units are also used as coolers to chill temperature control unit fluids such as Syltherm and Dowtherm. Standard units are available to 6,000 lbs/hr CO2.
Typical Applications:
Carbon Dioxide for food and beverage
Batch cooling fluids such as syltherm, freon and toluene
High purity applications
High pressure cylinder filling
Mid-size vaporization of nitrogen, oxygen, argon
Indirectly Fired Water Bath (IFWB) Vaporizers
Thermax IFWB’s offer high capacity and economical operation. The burner system(s) are fully automated with optional off site signaling available. The combustion gases pass through a series of heat exchanger piping to maintain a warm bath of water. The cryogen is vaporized and superheated through a tube bundle that is submerged in the bath. The bundle is fit with proprietary vortex generators. The bath provides ballast for vaporization and can be maintained at temperature for immediate use.
Standard units are available with burner capacity to 160 MMBTU/hr.
Typical Applications:
Backup oxygen, nitrogen, argon systems
Chlorine, ethylene, ammonia, hydrogen for process use
Bulk LNG, Satellite LNG plants, drain flares
Shipboard LNG vaporization
Portable trailer mounted units
Natural gas Joule Thompson trim heat
Water Bath Vaporizers
Where robust operation and ballast heat is desired water bath vaporizers are recommended. The water bath can be heated by electricity, steam, or combustion gases. A stainless steel vaporizing tube bundle is submerged in the water bath, ready for immediate use. The heat into the bath is controlled to maintain a steady bath temperature. A mixture of glycol can also be used if planned downtime in a freezing climate is expected
